The Blokes-In-Tights have gone but the primary colours are still around.  Here are a lineup promo and one of the latest 7 idents from August 2002.  The lineup song goes something like this.."nine thirty ahhh ten thirty ahhh...".

The "Blokes In Tights" series, as Roy an' HG would say.  This ident was used during the Salt Lake Winter Olympics in 2002 and builds on "The One To Watch" message and the logos used during the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.  And speaking of blokes in tights, you can see them in the second video, this is now being used at the end of shows which 7 produces.  The third is an impressive ident from January 2002.

In 2000 Channel 7 changed its logo from the double line "7 in a circle" to this flat ribbon style.  I wasn't fond of it at first but now it's image is more firmly planted than the previous one ever was, at least in my mind.  7 had already launched a new approach to branding with break bumpers being used for the first time in Australia, as well as a watermark.  The second file here is the after-break or return from commercial "twisty".

189kb     1999 and the last Christmas ident for the "7 in a circle" logo, and one of the best.  Seven were really making an effort here.

186kb     Thanks to Evan Davis, here is a Prime TV Millennium ident. Prime is a regional TV service which draws much of its programming from the Seven Network.

189kb     Again, thnks to Evan Davis, here is a South East Seven.  Evan, please send your current URL on to me so that I can add a link to your TV site here :)

59kb     With this first coloured bar ident, 7 were gearing up for the change of logo, the bar would make it onto the first of the idents for the flat ribbon style logo.

The background music was a version of "Every Breath You Take".

Back in 1999 the Seven Network did not seem to be as logo conscious as The Nine Network. This logo was shown before the popular Seven programme "Blue Healers" during February 1999 and contains some classic clips from the show.  If you need to pay for every bandwidth breath you take, the 78kb is a less detailed version of the same file.

This Sevens ident from 1988 is rather boring and was quickly replaced with the ident above it.  In fact both idents were used over the same few weeks until the first "The One To Watch" idents.  Again, two versions of the same file in case you want to save yourself some download time.

Some of Sevens nicer idents. The first is a short versions which just pre-dates the Sea Ident above. The second is a really nice one where the chap shown constructs a 7 logo using a clothes line and a Melbourne tram. The third is a 7 Sport logo which was not used exclusively for sports programs. All brought to you by Michael Costello from his tape of 63 idents. Thanks Michael.

This is absolutely the best seven logo, sadly no longer in use. It dates from the early to mid 90s and there were several versions of it. In Sydney the Sydney Harbour Bridge introduced the ident as you can see from the first capture above. Here are a few RealVideo files of this logo. The small files are quick to download but do NO justice to these logos. Be patient and try to download the larger files. The park logo (150kb) used slightly different music.

439kb     You'd never guess that this logo was from 1988, the same year in which Seven launched "Home and Away".  Andrew Bayley had (has) a fascinating timeline of television history on his site, well worth a visit.  Andrew, please send me your new URL....

The Seven Network created Neighbours and Home & Away, although they gave up on Neighbours and sold it to Network Ten.

On the technical side, I've been told that Seven developed the race car cameras that show a live view from inside a race car with a remote camera.

Seven have had some of the best logos on Australian TV over the past few years.  Here are some more.  The files in pairs are the same video, the smaller file will download faster but shows less detail.
